3D Finite Element Simulation of Crack Dynanmic Propagation Based on VUMAT

Abstract
User material subroutine VUMAT in the finite element software ABAQUS/EXPLICIT is developed for the simulation of 3D crack dynamic propagation by importing user defined constitutive equation and failure criterion on the integration points.Therefore,the simulation of 3D crack dynamic propagation can be accomplished using a moderately refined FE model.The robust incremental method is used,and the process of computing and convergence are controlled by incremental steps.The computing result has shown excellent consistency with the experimental result.The subroutine is coded for the constitutive equation of the integration points,therefore the FE grid does not need to be remeshed during the computing.The method is operational and efficient,so it can be used to solve the different constitutive equation and complex engineering model.
