Studies on Uniformity of MWCNTs/Al Composites by Friction Stir Processing

  • Multi-walled Carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) reinforced aluminum matrix composites were prepared by friction stir processing(FSP).The hardness and uniformity of the composites were studied.After five times of FSP,the average microhardness of the composites reaches 78HV,which is 1.68 times of the base metal.Kelvin probe test shows that MWCNTs in the aluminum matrix composite are distributed uniformly.
