Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis of Gradient Weld Layer of the Weldment between Metal and Ceramic

A new welding method which can be used in the welding of metal and ceramic with gradient weld layer between them was investigated by means of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS)technique,with the emphasis on the gradient weld preparation process.It is shown that the gradient weld can be fabricated successfully by means of the SHS technique and can moderate the thermal stress occurred in the welding interface when joining the metal and certal directly.
