Preparation and Mechanical Performance of Al₂TiO₅/Al₂O₃ Composite

The effect of MgTi₂O₅ and Fe₂TiO₅ compound additives on the mechanical performance of Al₂TiO₅/Al₂O₃ composites was studied through orthogonal test.The Al₂TiO₅/Al₂O,composite with optimum mechanical performance was prepared when 5mol% Mg-Ti₂O₅ and lmol% Fe₂TiO₅ were added to Al₂TiO₅.Based on this test,Al₂TiO₅/Al₂O,composites with different Al₂O₃ volume contents(10%、20%、40%、60%、80%、90%) were fabricated and the microstructures were studied by SEM.The density,strength and elastic modules of the composites were improved with the increase of Al₂O₃ volume content.When the volume content of Al₂O₃ increased from 10% to 90%,the three-point bending strength increased from 16.25Mpa to 272.05Mpa.
