Synthesis of tributyl orthovalerate by transesterification over catalyst

Tributyl orthovalerate was synthesized using trimethyl orthovalerate and normal butanol as reactants and I₂ as catalyst.With strong base NaOH and strong acid HCl as catalyst,this transesterification has fairly good catalysis effect and post-processing purification method through using I₂ as catalyst.The optimum reaction condition and result are as follows: with4% I₂ of trimethyl orthovalerate,and n(trimethyl orthovalerate)/n(normal butanol)=1:28,reacting at 68-70℃ (vacuum degree:-0.09MPa)for4h,conversion of trimethyl orthovalerate was 87.5% and the yield of tributyl orthovalerate was82.6%.Besides,the product purity can reach 98.3%.
