Effects of Heat-Overloading Treatment On Crack Extension Life of 30CrMnSiA Components

  • In this paper,the crack-borne tensile specimens made from 30CrMnSiA are firstly heated and overloaded and then unloaded and cooled.Around the tip of the crack will form a residual plastic field with compressive stresses.This treatment has an effect on delaying the crack extension and hence suppressing its cracking.Compared to other two treatment,this method will increase the fatigue fracture life by a factor of 2.4~3.3.Furthermore,this treatment can also be used on the components made from other metallic plastic materials.
