Preparation and Properties of Soy Bean Oil Based UV Curable Waterborne Polyurethane/TiO2 Hybrid Coating

  • In this paper, a series of soy bean oil based UV curable waterborne polyurethane/TiO2 hybrid coating were prepared via sol-gel method, and the hybrid coating was heated at different temperatures. The structure of the coating was characterized by XRD, and the photocatalytic performance of hybridized coatings was studied by monitoring the change of contact angle under the irradiation of UV light, and the photocatalytic performance was studied by heating treatment. The results showed that the hybrid coating had perfect photocatalytic activity after heat treatment under 120℃. The water contact angle showed repeatedly decreasing tendency with UV light irradiation and then increasing tendency under dark. Moreover, the thermal stability of the coating was improved with the addition of inorganic phase, and the maximum amount of residual carbon increased to 18.8%.
