Thermal Conductivity of Diamond/Al Composites Prepared Using Powder Metallurgy

  • Diamond/Al composites were prepared by powder metallurgy technology. The thermal properties of the composites with different volume fraction and sintering temperatures were investigated. The physical properties of diamond/Al composites were characterized by SEM, Archimede's method and Laser Flash Apparatus. The result show that when the sintering temperature is 875℃, the diamond/Al composites possesses high relative density, and the distribution of diamond particles are very uniformly. With the increase of the sintering temperatures, thermal conductivity of diamond/Al composites appears a downward trend after the first rise. With the diamond volume fraction of 20% and the sintering temperature of 875℃, the thermal conductivity of the composites is up to 243 W/(m·K).
