Development of Alternating Intermittent Magnetic Field Power Supply and Its Application in TIG Welding

  • Developed a new type of alternating intermittent magnetic field power supply, the hardware circuit and software program of the power supply were designed, using the way of the keyboard input the parameters to set the alternating frequency and duty cycle, adjust parameter intuitive and convenient. The alternating intermittent magnetic field generated by the power supply was applied to the TIG welding process in low carbon steel, the effects that the alternating frequency of the applied magnetic field on the shape of the welding arc and the weld width were explored, and the mechanism of magnetic field acting on welding was discussed. The experimental results show that with the increase of the magnetic field frequency, the upper part of the welding arc shrinks and the lower part expansion, the amplitude of left and right swing increased, and the weld width also increased.
