Finite Element Analysis of Shear Performance for RCS Composite Joint with Inset Bearing Plate

  • A new joint with inset bearing plate is explored which based on typical RCS joint configurations. Finite element software ANSYS is applied to compare new and traditional joints. By calculating, beam load-lateral curves are obtained, then bending moment balance formula is used to obtain shearing capacity. The results show that the new joint configuration can improve shear capacity effectively.
