Superhydrophobic Surface on ZnO and the Resistance to Protein Adsorption

  • Superhydrophobic zinc oxide on the zinc substrate was fabricated via a hydrothermal process. The temperature and the time of the hydrothermal treatment could influence the surface wettability greatly. Under the condition that the temperature is 90℃ and the time is 6 h, the water contact angle was optimized to be 169° and the sliding angle 5°. The superhydrophobic zinc oxide exposed to the air and to the NaCl aqueous solution was found to be stable. Biofouling experimental results showed that the superhydrophobic sample could resist the adsorption of the protein more obviously.
