Modeling and Simulation of Stress Distribution in XGH Suspension Clamp

  • A finite element model of stress distribution in XGH suspension clamp is established by using Ansys Workbench software. pro/E software is adopted to generate the geometry of XGH suspension clamp, and the loading force is calculated according to the practical situations. Simulations were carried out, and the results demonstrate that the stress concentration positions are identified at the edge and bottom of reinforced sides, inner and outer sides of U-type bolt jaws, respectively. The defects located at the edge of the reinforced sides of the suspension clamp and U-type bolt jaws will start to grow up when they have 0.2 mm and 0.4 mm in depth, respectively.
