CIVA Simulation of Ultrasonic Detection Technique for the Crucial Component of Aircraft's Undercarriage

Abstract
Defects in the manufacturing process will affect the use of the undercarriages. To compare the detection of transverse wave and surface wave, simulation studies were carried out for ultrasonic inspection of the undercarriage with defects by using the CIVA software .In this paper, the error of transverse wave and surface wave probe in the measure and localization of near-surface flaw is analyzed. The effect of 57°, 63°angle of incidence of the detected error was also compared. The results indicate that the CIVA can make an ultrasonic testing technology simulation about the aircraft's undercarriage and other complex geometries. The detection error is smaller when the surface wave probe is used, which uses 63°incidence angle detection error is smaller.
