Continuous Nickel-plating on Carbon Fiber Surface

  • Continuous nickel-plating on carbon fiber surface has been studied in this paper. Firstly, carbon fiber was pre-treated follow by ignition at 400℃ for 30 min, soaking in acetone for 30min, boiling in sodium hydroxide solution for 15min, soaking in nitric acid for 30min. And then, continuous nickel-plating was proceeded by controlling the current, temperature and pH value. The best experimental conditions are as follows: 1.0 A for current, 35℃ for temperature, 4~5 for pH, the formula of plating solution is: 260 g/L for NiSO4, 40 g/L for NiCl2, 40 g/L for H3BO3, 0.2 g/L for C12H25OSO3Na. The results show that the continuous and dense nickel layer is deposited on carbon fiber surface through the test of SEM and EDS.
