Crystallization Kinetics of Polyamide-6/Fumed Silica Composites by in Situ Polymerization

  • Polyamide-6/fumed silica composites were prepared by in situ polymerization, and the crystallization behavior of the composites were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. The Mo model was employed to analyze the crystallization kinetics. The results revealed that fumed Silica could increase the peak crystallization temperature and decrease the crystallization enthalpies of monomer casting polyamide-6(MCPA6). Mo model could well describe the non-isothermal crystallization process for this system. The effective energy barrier of non-isothermal crystallization (ΔE) was evaluated by applying Kissinger and Takhor equations, it was found fumed Silica could increase ΔE of MCPA6.
