Abstract:
The effects of mechanical alloying and vacuum sintering temperature and time on the relative density of Laves phase Nb-Cr alloy were investigated. The results indicate the relative density increasing rates of sintered samples from 20h mechanically alloyed powders of elemental chromium and niobium powders are 3 to 5 times those of sintered samples from no-milling elemental chromium and niobium powders. With the increasing of sintering temperature and time, the synthesizing reaction of Laves phase NbCr2 is completed more fully and the relative density of sintered samples increases.
