Abstract: In this paper,an examination has been performed on the properties of the sodium silicate ceramic shells with a small addition of rare earth oxides La₂O₃.The results have shown that having little influence on the permeability of the shell,this addition significantly improves its high-temperature strength,reduces its deformation and scantily raises its residual strength.By adding in small amount of La₂O₃,the consumption of the raw material can be decreased,and the productivity increased,therefore,its prospects of application looks bright.
