Abstract:
An environmentally friendly nanocomposite Fe
3O
4/ZrO
2/Chitosan was synthesized and its capacity of sunset yellow removal from water was investigated in this study. The morphology of the adsorbent was found to be nanosized and spheroidal, and was chemical stable in the pH range of 2-12.Its maximum adsorption capacity to sunset yellow is 82.7 mg/g
-1.The equilibrium adsorption isotherms indicated sunset yellow was adsorbed in multilayer coverage manner, and the process fit well to Freundlich model. The results of kinetic studies show that the adsorption process is pseudo-second-order,and the intra-particle diffusion plays an important role in this process. This composite has a unique property that combined the good properties of chitosan,ZrO
2 and Fe
3O
4.In addition, the composite is easy to be fabricated and cost lowly,Fe
3O
4/ZrO
2/Chitosan has high potential to be applied for the removal of dyes in natural wastewater.
