Abstract:
The deformation parameters of soil layer at pile end determined by laboratory test are different from the actual situation. Especially for deep soft soil, the value of deformation parameter may be significantly lower, resulting in a larger calculation value of pile foundation settlement than the measured data, thus affecting the designer’s judgment and decision. In this paper, the corresponding relationship between the deformation modulus and the characteristic value of foundation bearing capacity is established on the basis of deep plate load test. A method of determining the deformation modulus of pile end soil according to the characteristic value of foundation bearing capacity is proposed, while two typical cases are utilized to verify the reasonableness and accuracy of the method. The results show that the deformation modulus of pile end soil obtained by the proposed method are basically consistent with the results of relevant empirical formulas and settlement observations. The proposed method can reflect the law of deformation modulus variation with soil type and depth, and provide reference for improving the accuracy of settlement calculation of pile foundation.
