Abstract:
The construction industry stands out as a significant contributo carbon emission. Analyzing influencing factors of carbon emission in the construction industry in Jiangxi Province holds paramount significance to realize the green and low-carbon transformation in the region. By calculating the carbon emissions of the construction industry in Jiangxi Province from 2004 to 2019, Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) is applied to dissect the increment of carbon emissions within the area. The analysis delves into the factors accounting for the contribution amount and rate, including energy structure intensity, energy consumption intensity, indirect carbon emission intensity and construction industry economic scale to the variations in carbon emission. The influene of each factor on the trend of carbon emission was also discussed. The results show a consistent growing trend in the carbon emissions of the construction industry in Jiangxi Province from 2004 to 2019. Among the driving factors, the economic scale and energy consumption intensity of the construction industry emerge as the primary factors that promote and inhibit the growth of carbon emissions of the construction industry in Jiangxi Province, respectively. While energy structure intensity and indirect carbon emission intensity also play a row in boosting carbon emissions, their impact degree is comparatively lower than that of the economic scale of the construction industry. Based on the empirical conclusions, some relevant suggestions are proposed to promote the low-carbon development of the construction industry in Jiangxi Province.
