Abstract:
“Engineering Structure” is an important course for undergraduates major in engineering management. As the finite element method can efficiently and accurately analyze the mechanical properties of engineering structures, it is introduced into the teaching of “Engineering Structure” course. Taking the mechanical performance of reinforced concrete structure as the starting point, four sets of question banks of beam, slab, column and frame system are established, with moderate difficulty, to enhance the students’ learning interest and practical ability, and then improve the teaching effectiveness. By explaining the operation steps and modeling skills of the ABAQUS finite element software, the students present a high degree of homework completion. Combining the finite element method with the teaching content and examination method, the reform of the teaching content and examination method are further discussed. Oriented by engineering application, a new teaching mode is proposed. In addition, the direction, objectives and expected benefits of curriculum construction are further clarified. In conclusion, the teaching reform idea of finite element method in “Engineering Structure” course can provide useful reference for the teaching of other professional courses.
