Abstract:
Bioremediation is an efficient, economical and environmentally friendly method to treat acid mine drainage. In this paper, a manganese-oxidization bacterium was isolated from Qibaoshan mining area. The physiological and biochemical identification and 16S rRNA amplicome sequencing analysis showed that the bacterium was Gram-positive Bacillus
Brevibacillus Agri, which was named
Brevibacillus agri NC-1. The optimal culture conditions of
Brevibacillus agri NC-1 were as follows: pH=7, temperature 30 ℃, inoculum size 3%, speed 150 r/min. The removal rate of manganese ions from
Brevibacillus agri NC-1 reached 98% after cultured 7 days(initial manganese ion concentration: 500mg/L). Therefore, this bacterium had strong ability to remove manganese and can be used as a functional strain for acid mine drainage remediation.
