Abstract:
In order to design a practical butterfly Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV), using biomimetic technology, the insectile high-lift mechanics of real butterfly were analyzed. In view of this design, the author puts forward three critical factors, which are the formation of large scale vortex, position of the formation of leading-edge scale vortex, and the high-lift mechanics during the downbeat process and completes the design of the biomimetic butterfly UAV. This design maintains the shape of a real butterfly,and creates a mobilizable wing system. This design will be using an electro-motor to achieve vertical lift. According to the mechanical structure design of the biomimetic butterfly UAV, its center of mass is regulable, the leading-edge vortex co-operates with the electro-motor to ensure sufficient lifting force. By modulating the rev of electro-motor, enables the design to vertical take-off and landing.
