Abstract:
This paper take TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas)welding under AC mode to weld AZ31B magnesium alloy to galvanized steel with lap joint, through adjusted welding parameters to acquire optimum welding forming, and tested the mechanical properties of the joints with tensile shear testing machine. The results shown that TIG welding is an effective method of connected dissimilar materials of magnesium and steel, Zn element in the surface of galvanized steel can make molten magnesium alloy wetting with steel effectively, and form an ideal lap joints. When the welding speed is 65 mm/min, welding current is 50 A and shielding gas flow rate is 15L/min, the joint tensile shear strength can up to 154.73 MPa. The optimum welding parameters of welding current and welding speed are ranged from 40~60 A and 60~70 mm/min, respectively.
