Corrosion Failure Analysis in Closed Storage Environment Starting From Abnormal Points
-
Abstract
Several typical cases of corrosion failure in closed storage environment were studied. Through macroscopic and microscopic feature observation, energy spectrum analysis and metallographic examination, the corrosion characteristics and mechanisms were determined. On this basis, the commonalities were summarized and generalized. It is put forward that corrosion failure may occur in closed storage environment, but the corrosion failure causes usually have strong concealment. Starting from abnormal points, accidental medium penetration and potential failure driving forces should be analyzed to explore the root causes of corrosion failure, which is conducive to conducting targeted analysis of product failure in storage. The results indicate that corrosive media are the necessary cause of corrosion failure, and failure driving forces are the energy source promoting the continuous development of corrosion until macroscopic failure. The results above provide reference opinions for strengthening anti-corrosion in storage.
