    Discussion on Detection Techniques for Seal Failure of Airplane Fuel Tanks

    • The typical sealing forms of aircraft structure fuel tank, the common causes of oil leakage caused by seal failure, and the formation process of leakage holes in structure fuel tanks were analyzed. The principle and practical application effect of conventional aircraft-structure fuel tank seal inspection methods (bubble leak detection, penetration leak detection) as well as some practical experience and skills during the process of aircraft repair were summarized. Combined with the characteristics and mechanism of oil tank leakage, the process disadvantage of low sensitivity and improvement necessity of conventional leak detection methods were also analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages, leakage detection accuracy, industry application demand, engineering application schemes and application prospect of advanced leakage detection techniques were discussed.
