Fracture Analysis of Fuel Pipe for Measuring Pressure

    • A fuel pipe for measuring pressure fractured during service, resulting in the alarm of the fuel pump. In this paper, the fracture surface morphology and trace were analyzed. The results show that the fracture mode of the pipe is fatigue fracture, which was mainly caused by greater bending vibration stress. The wear trace and location of the pipe body indicate that the clamp didn't effectively fix the pipe, resulting in greater bending vibration stress. Subsequent survey shows that there was a deficiency in technology management, and thus the assembly process improvement hadn't been carried out in time, so the clamp hadn't work. When the pipe was assembled, it was bended by a worker. The length of the straight section of the pipe end is lower than the technical requirement, increasing assembly stress and promoting rupture.
