Research Progress of Oxidation and Oxidation Resistance of Cf/SiC Composites

    • Continuous carbon fibers reinforced silicon carbide ceramic composites (Cf/SiC) are a king of high-temperature structural material with great potential in aeronautics and astronautics due to their excellent properties such as high specific strength, high specific modulus, good abrasion resistance, good thermal stability and high temperature resistance. But high temperature oxidation is their weakness, which may lead to the decline of their properties, and directly affect the service life and safety. The influencing factors of oxidation of Cf/SiC composites were analyzed in this paper. And the research status of high-temperature oxidation resistance of Cf/SiC composites was summarized from the three aspects of interphase, matrix and surface coatings. The results show that the oxidation behavior of Cf/SiC composites differ with temperature range, and the combination of interfacial modification, coating oxidation resistance and matrix modification is the key to the oxidation resistance of materials. Finally, the development trend of Cf/SiC composites is forecasted.
