    Effects of Quenching Media on Mechanical Property and Microstructure of GCr15 Steel

    • The effects of different quenching media and methods on the mechanical properties, hardness and microstructure of GCr15 steel were investigated. The result shows that the tensile strength by salt quenching is 3.31% higher than that by oil quenching, the impact toughness by salt quenching is 1.16% lower than that by oil quenching, the hardness by salt quenching is 0.89% lower than that by oil quenching, and the microstructure by salt quenching is slightly finer. The general performance of CCr15 steel by salt quenching is close to that by oil quenching. Salt quenching process can substitute oil quenching process.
