Failure Analysis of Flame Tube Ablation of Turboprop Engine
-
Abstract
Ablation occurred to a flame tube of turboprop engine. The structure and mechanism of the fault component were analyzed and a fault tree was established. Assembly situation review, size measurement of flame tube and head, fuel nozzle check, physical and chemical analysis were carried out. It was preliminary determined that the fault cause was that the protection air gap of the nozzle head was blocked by carbon deposit. Through fault mechanism analysis and experimental verification, the fault cause was exactly located. Finally, the safety of the flame tube during service was analyzed. It was proposed that the size of the air inlet duct of nozzle nut of every flame tube should be checked.
