    Characteristics and Causes of Typical Failure Modes of Electrical Connectors

    • 摘要: 电连接器组件的失效概率在电子元器件失效中所占比例较大,其失效会影响整个系统的可靠性。本文总结归纳了电连接器组件的典型失效模式、特征及原因,并提出了预防措施。结果表明:断路主要是由接触体和接触体尾端电缆的断裂所致;短路(击穿)主要是由本该绝缘的2个零件距离过近或导电多余物的进入等所致;电参数漂移主要是由接触体之间、接触体尾端与压接电缆之间接触电阻过大所致。电连接器组件失效的根本原因有材料、设计、工艺、服役等,因此必须统计和分析更多的失效案例,为预防电连接器组件的失效提供数据支撑。

       

      Abstract: The failure probability of electrical connectors accounts for a large proportion of the failure of all electronic components, and their failure will affect the reliability of the systems. In the present work, the typical failure modes, characteristics and causes of electrical connectors are summarized, and preventive measures are proposed. The open circuit is mainly due to the fracture of contacts or the cables in the end of contacts. The short circuit (breakdown) is mainly due to the proximity between two insulating parts or the entry of conductive foreign materials. The electrical parameter drift is mainly caused by excessive contact resistance between contacts, or the end of contacts and crimping cables. The root failure causes of electrical connectors are materials, design, processing, and service, etc. For preventing the failure of electrical connectors, more failure cases must be collected and analyzed.
