Abstract:
The rear hatch glass of an aircraft broke during takeoff and climb. In this paper, appearances of cockpit glass were observed by visual inspection. Failure characteristics of glass were observed by stereo microscope. Micro morphology of fracture surface were observed by scanning electron microscope. Corrosion components were analyzed by energy spectrum test and infrared spectrum test. And corrosion of the cockpit glass on other sorties were tested. The reasons for the failure of the cockpit glass were obtained. And the solution measures were put forward. The results showed that the cracks of the cockpit glass were fatigue cracks, which caused by the solvent corrosion of organochlorine in the adhesive. It was suggested that benzoyl peroxide should be dried to avoid chloroform in the acrylic adhesive.
